Freehand Flames Scart or crochet hat, scarf, bag combo

Description

This vivid and fun scart (combination hat/scarf/tote bag) features leaping flames all around the crown. Each one is different and individually hooked on the fly, using tapestry crochet techniques, rather like making a spontaneous drawing, but three dimensional and in yarn…

Bright, warm burgundy in eyelash yarn at the forehead area progressively shades into bright scarlet, orange and lemon tones in plain textured yarns, flickering against a black background at the top of the crown section. Designer yarn plied with little ‘flags’ of fabric at the very top evokes images of smoke and heat haze.

From each of the crown’s two corners, luxuriant lemon-yellow tassels of 15cm/6” dance from twisted cords of 7.5cm/3”.

The two scarf ends, both 76cm/30” in length, but asymmetric in design, have stripes and zigzags in their centres, and are edged with bright red eyelash yarn and deep orange furry yarn. Their soft, multi-coloured fringes measure approximately 15cm/6”.

This piece of wearable Art headgear is soft, fuzzy and functional. It can be worn as a hat, with the scarf ends swinging freely or wrapped around the wearer’s neck for extra warmth. Or it can be turned upside down with the scarf ends knotted together, to become a useful bag. Out shopping and forgot your bag? No spare hands or room in your tote for that one more book at the library? Then this is the hat for you!

‘Freehand Flames’ is sized to snuggle around and enliven a medium-to-large-sized adult’s cranium of up to around 59cm/23”. It is made of synthetic yarns, so can be easily washed. For the sake of the tassels and fringes, please handwash it in lukewarm water, roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, then dry flat.

Shipping
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the local post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.

At present I am sending parcels within Australia by Express post to make sure they arrive as soon as possible. Buyers will have a tracking number so they can follow their parcel’s progress, so long as the postal service in their country allows it. Tracking numbers will be sent as soon as I post the parcel.
