Perky little ears lined with pink sequinned yarn and edged with variegated pastel rainbow feathers yarn make this sparkly crochet kitty-cat shaped ear flap hat extra-cute! The kitty ears at the hat’s corners are very carefully shaped to make them stand up and out, while the top of the head section is curved to mimic the shape of a cat’s head between the ears.

A full rainbow of fuzzy angora, alpaca, mohair and wool yarns form a pyramid of fine stripes on the forehead, like the forehead stripes of a rainbow-toned kitty.

Beautifully soft, warm and silky Australian wool-mix yarn in pastel pink with subtle rainbow variegations forms the crown, while sparkling pastel teal eyelash yarn wraps around the base as a wide, fluffy band.

Satin ribbon-yarn in a delicate, matching pink appears in an accent row of three dimensional bobbles around the base of the crown, just above the teal band. A final edging row of the softest, feathery designer yarn in pastel pink, variegated with rainbow touches completes the hat.

A deep widow’s peak at the forehead adds interest, excludes drafts, and gives the hat a bit more “kitty-ness”.

The Pink Rainbow Kitty should fit most, it is best suited to snuggle around and enliven a medium sized noggin of up to 59cm/23”. The handtwisted ear flap ties are approx 26cm/10” in length and the fluffy tassels which dance from them are 15cm/6” long.

This is a new design. It was inspired by a request for another, somewhat similarly shaped hat for a customer. I had so much fun with that hat, I decided to make a variation on the kitty-cat theme, with a different colour scheme, and significant modifications to the design which make it a unique piece of wearable Art headgear in its own right.

Like all my work, the Pink Rainbow Kitty was crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. Being made of lovely, durable yarns, it should give its owner years of warm wear, providing it is cared for appropriately.

It is made from mainly natural yarns, mostly pure Australian wool, with fluffy, fuzzy synthetic yarns (feathers and eyelash yarns) and a little mohair, alpaca and angora. The woolen yarns in this hat are very wearable, and not in the least scratchy.

Please handwash and rinse the Pink Rainbow Kitty in lukewarm water, then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry.

Shipping-
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends, because the local post office is closed Saturday and Sunday. Shipping to the US/UK should take about ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.

Most parcels will ship with tracking, where destinations allow for tracking (Aus, USA, UK and many others all do).
