Sunburst Scood, hood, scarf, capelet combo

All the colours of the rainbow- except blue- are set off by a black background in this stunning and bright scood, or hood, scarf, capelet combination. This very special scood was made ‘freehand’- with its bold colours, complex and intricate design, shading and texture, it is truly a unique piece of original wearable Art.

The romantic, deeply draping hood section can be flicked back to reverse over the wearer’s shoulders, like a capelet. The tapestry/entarsia crochet techniques used mean that the sunburst is vivid and obvious on the reverse side when it is turned back.

‘Sunburst’ decoration on guitars has a light centre, often showing the grain of the wood, and shading through reds to a dark edge. Hence this scood’s name. At least one of the yarns used in this scood ombre through the full range of colours, while other yarns are just a single colour, strategically placed to give a shaded effect.

Three dimensional bobbles, berry and popcorn stitches, cables and fuzzy yarns add texture.

Black scarf ends accented with black and multi-colour lurex bobbles measure 76cm/30”. They boast thick, 15cm/6” long fringes, while the spheroided, swishing tail section measures 56cm/22”, not including the luxuriant tassel of 15cm/6” and the 12.5cm/5” long, hand twisted cord from which it swings.

The scood was designed and crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, (or used at all) in its making.

The Sunburst Scood is a ‘one size fits most’ garment. The neckline is generously sized and can be worn snug or loose- just wrap or knot the scarf ends at a comfortable spot.

This scood is primarily made from synthetic fibres and is washable. Please handwash and rinse the scood in lukewarm water- woolwash is best- roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, then dry flat. Do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry.

Shipping
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed. Buyers will have a tracking number, where the destination of their parcel allows- the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries do allow for tracking.
