Description
Cerublu is short for ‘cerulean blue’ and it was about time I made a sky blue hat! This vivid and warm, statement-piece ear flap hat features two bold, red-tipped horns, which are 18cm/7” in length, and about as brash as a Viking broadsword.
Tapestry crochet techniques are used to simulate a helmet’s banding in black, with a black-and-blue bobble at each ‘join’ imitating large rivets. Below that is a fuzzy band of sparkly, light blue-almost-teal eyelash yarn, edged in bold, teal-blue, hairy designer yarn.
The blue ‘background’ of the crown (in between the black bands) is made up of three different sky blue-teal tones and shades from light at the top to darker at the base.
A deep ‘widow’s peak’, suggesting the ‘nasal’ of a helmet, draws attention to the wearer’s eyes while excluding drafts.
Hand-twisted ear flap ties of approx. 23cm/9” boast luxuriantly thick, fluffy, black and blue feathers yarn tassels of 15cm/6”.
The horns are lined with black lycra fabric and padded with synthetic filling (as for cushions). The black fabric lining is so that the white fill doesn’t show through the crochet- just to add another little touch of authenticity and add to the durability.
The Cerulean Valkyrie is small to medium in size, best suited to cuddle and adorn a cranium of between around 54cm/21” to 56cm/22”.
This hat is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art headgear, designed and crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. It is robustly constructed of good quality materials, so should give the owner years of enjoyable wear.
The Cerulean Valkyrie is made from synthetic fibres- including the yarns, the lining and the padding inside the horns- so it is suitable for vegans. Please wash it gently, then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not bleach or tumble dry.
Shipping
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends, because the local post office is closed Saturday and Sunday. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.
At present I am sending parcels within Australia by Express post to make sure they arrive as soon as possible. Buyers will have a tracking number so they can follow their parcel’s progress, so long as the postal service in their country allows it. Tracking numbers will be sent as soon as I post the parcel.
If you like this hat, but it’s not the right size for you, or you’d prefer another colour scheme, or perhaps you have some ideas to add… please contact me here or use the form below, I’m always delighted to fulfil custom orders.
This hat is also listed in our etsy shop here.
Thanks for looking!
