Crochet Fish Hat- The Sequinned Snapper

Description

The Snapper is softly coloured, but has lots of sparkling sequins and glitz. The muted mushroom-pinks, lavenders and mauves of their crocodile-stitch-ish scales are set off by their chocolate fins, great big gleaming off-white teeth and hot pink and chocolate eyeballs accented with flecks of orange and blue. I reckon the Snapper is a nocturnal bottom-dweller- those colours and huge, boggly eyes simply shout, ‘weird marine critter found in a very deep ocean trench’.

The Sequinned Snapper has large teeth of assorted sizes and shapes and loves to clamp them and those plump, pink lips around a human head. But don’t worry- the Snapper is no piranha! According to those teeth, they’re possibly an omnivore, with sharp, pointy canines and square incisors.

They would love to wrap those impressive teeth around a small-to-medium-sized noggin of up to 59cm/22.5”.

The Snapper’s dorsal and tail fins are wired and pose-able, and their eyeballs are filled with synthetic padding. The tiny white spots on the photos are pinpoints of light reflected off the sequins plied into some of the yarns, including the main pink and cream toned yarns in the scales.

The Sequinned Snapper is a unique piece of wearable Art, designed and robustly crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in their making.

They are made from a combination of natural and synthetic yarns- mohair-synthetic mix for most of the body, pure Australian wool for the teeth and synthetics for the fluffy fins. So, while the Snapper likes to swim, not in hot water, please! They can be handwashed and rinsed in lukewarm water, then rolled in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and laid flat to dry. Please do not machine wash or tumble dry the Snapper.

Shipping- I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends, when the local post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.

I’m presently using Australia Post Express Post within Australia to ensure parcels get to their destinations as fast as possible, with tracking.

Tracking will be provided for destinations outside Australia which allow it- that includes the US, UK and NZ.
