This colourful character is a very rare Australian dinosaur, whose speciality is to ‘snare’ and hold Stuff. Like spectacles, paintbrushes, crochet hooks… you name it, so long as it fits in her hands, she’ll keep it secure. Her legs, arms and fingers are all individually wired and poseable, so she can grasp all sorts of things.
Her neck is also wired, in spring-fashion, so her head will nod and move with the wearer’s movements, and can be gently raised, tilted and turned.
She has exquisite, sparkling, handpainted, holographic safety eyes by Darkside Eyes. At the opposite end, she has a shapely bottom. This is accented by her light mauve belly.
Snarosaurus is purple. Her spine ridge is hot fuschia-pink, and her beautiful, sparkling eyes are purple-pink-teal.
Scholars are still discussing whether this is protective colouration or camouflage, or if it just makes her more attractive to other dinosaurs… Judging by her cheeky grin, I reckon it’s the latter.
The Snarosaurus ‘sits’ on a band of grass green rib crochet, which is slightly stretchy to keep her snug around the wearer’s noggin. Her wired head, extremities and limbs are all padded with synthetic fill to keep them pleasingly plump.
She won first prize in the Novelty Knitted or Crocheted Doll or Toy class at Dungog Show (Nov ’23).
She is sized to warm and enliven a cranium of up to 60cm/23”.
She is a unique, individual piece of durable, wearable Art headgear, designed and robustly crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in her making.
The Snarosaurus is made from synthetic fibres- she is a vegan dino! She doesn’t mind a bath, but please handwash and rinse her gently in lukewarm water, then roll her in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and lay her on her tummy to dry flat-tish. Do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry her. With care, Snarosaurus should give her owner many years of fun.
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the local post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.
Tracking is provided to all destinations which allow for it. That includes Australia, the US and UK Canada and New Zealand. Customers should receive the tracking number when I tell the website that is has been posted (which I do as soon as it’s in the mail).
Australians- at present I’m sending all parcels by Express Post to get them to their new homes as quickly as possible and allow for tracking.
Snarosaurus is also listed on my etsy shop here.
