Viking style horned crochet ear flap hat- ‘Rainbow Blues’

Description

This quirky crochet ear flap hat in blue-purple mohair-mix yarn lightly variegated with yellow red and blue, features rainbow-striped horns.

Tapestry crochet techniques are used to simulate a norse helmet’s cross-banding, with 3D bobble stitches in red, yellow, blue, and black-red-teal-blue sparkly variegated yarns imitating large rivets. A fuzzy band of variegated blue-teal-purple eyelash yarn forms a heart shape around the wearer’s face. The whole hat is edged in matching fluffy feathers and eyelash yarn crocheted together.

A deep ‘widow’s peak’, suggesting the ‘nasal’ of a helmet, draws attention to the wearer’s eyes while excluding drafts.

Hand-twisted ear flap ties of approx. 25cm/10” boast luxuriantly thick, fluffy tassels of 18cm/7”. The softly pointy horns are each 15cm/6” in length. They are also set a little to the back, like ‘raked’ aircraft wings.

Rainbow Blues should fit most noggins, up to extra large, or 61cm/23.5”.

This hat is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art headgear, designed and crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. It is robustly constructed of high quality materials, so should give the owner years of enjoyable wear.

Rainbow Blues is made mainly from fluffy natural fibre mohair and wool yarns, so it is warm but light. The rainbow yarns in the horns are wool. The fuzzy feathers and eyelash yarns in the edging, bands and tassels are synthetics. The horns are padded with washable, synthetic filling.

Please wash and rinse it gently in lukewarm water (woolwash is recommended), then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry.

Shipping- I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.

Tracking- Where possible, buyers will have a tracking number to keep tabs on their parcel’s progress via the Australia Post website. Most destinations, including Australia, the US and UK, Canada and New Zealand allow for tracking.

Australians- I’m presently using Express shipping within Australia to get parcels delivered as quickly and reliably as possible.
