Checker Shrug, soft and warm

Description

Velvety black, midnight blue, sky blue, purples from deep to fuschia- all are accented with touches of silvery glitz in this fabulous, light and warm shrug. A lower, rib band and ribbed cuffs have a little stretch to keep the shrug snug, while the furry black collar can be folded over or stood up to exclude drafts.

The arms are crocheted in a slightly denser fabric than the body section (for extra warmth). They are symmetrical in size and shape, but the crochet designs on each are different.

The Checker Shrug features checker patterns in assorted colours and sizes as well as a broad variety of crochet stitches and techniques, from entarsia/tapestry crochet, to 3D crochet cables, bobbles and berry stitches.

It has a capacity to stretch a bit further than my measurements- in them I’ve allowed a little more ‘give’. I have also been conservative in my estimate of sizes it should fit. The wrist and upper arm measurements are probably the most important of all in ensuring it does fit. If they are within your size range, and the overall length across from one cuff to another isn’t too short or way too long, then it should fit. If you have any questions about fit, please send me a convo- I don’t mind clarifying or remeasuring if necessary.

It should fit a US size 8-12 or Aus/UK size 12-16. The measurements are on one of the pictures and are;
Overall length (from end of one cuff to end of other cuff)- 175cm/70”
Wrist circumference- 10cm/7.5”
Upper arm circumference- 43cm/17” (measurement on pic is shown with shrug sleeve folded in half)
Collar width at centre back- 10cm/4”
Width of back (excluding collar)- 70cm/28”
Length of lower rib band- 77cm/30”

This shrug is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art clothing, designed and robustly crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. It should give its owner years of warm wear, provided it is washed carefully.

It is made from an eclectic collection of synthetic and natural fibres, including wool, mohair and angora, so please handwash and rinse the Checker Shrug in lukewarm water, then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Some of the photographs show it on a half-body mannequin which is wearing a black and white spotted singlet under the shrug. (In case you were wondering.)
