Description
This regal and unique creation in beautiful cool tones oozes fabulous, retro, mullet style; business at the front, party at the back, as the saying goes. It exudes definite 1970’s Farrah vibes.
Blue is the main colour- from royal to sky to baby blues. Purple, mauve and lavender tones come in a close second, then touches of greens and teals, including pops of his vis greens add accents. As the wig’s length increases from front to back, the colours shade from pale to deep. So the fringe features soft, pale tones- silvery white, barely teal, almost-mauve. It shades through mid tones- cerulean, cerise, grass green and turquoise- to bold, strong tones at the back- royal blues and purples navy and forest greens.
The entire wig is lightly sprinkled with subtle glitz. This is a very dense and thick wig- much fuller than some of my wigs. The long back section has a 5:1 increase ratio, while the top has a 1:1- that is, at the back, every fifth strand is a double strand, which increases to two strands per knot at the top and front. This helps to make the wig balance well, even though the back is quite long.
The cool colour scheme is simply striking, and should coordinate with lots of outfits, from jeans and tshirt to evening wear. It is also very, very warm indeed.
Every single yarn ‘hair’ strand of The Queen of Cool is hand knotted into a subtly striped, crochet beanie base, made of very soft but substantial and strong, slightly fuzzy, vintage 10ply wool/mohair/synthetic yarns.
The beanie base is actually not shaped like your traditional beanie, but more like a wig, with a little extra room in the crown for the wearer to tuck their hair up inside. The beautifully soft, fluffy, pink edging yarn, slightly snugger than the rows above, should help to keep it secure, although it balances well.
It supports thousands of multicoloured strands of yarn, each individually knotted into place by hand. Yes, these take some time to make! The ‘hair’ is made of a huge variety of different coloured and textured yarns. The fibres used include wool, mohair, alpaca and various fuzzy and plan textured synthetics.
It can be trimmed and styled if desired, as the strands of ‘hair’ are knotted individually onto the base and are not integral to the structure.
The Queen of Cool is medium to large in size, best suited to warm and enliven a cranium of between 57cm/22” to 62cm/23.5” approximately. The ‘hair’ should fall to about bra-strap level in the middle of the back.
This wig beanie was designed, crocheted and knotted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making.
It is made from a huge and eclectic collection of natural and synthetic fibres including pure Australian wool, cotton, angora, mohair and alpaca, along with synthetic eyelash, feathers and sparkly designer yarns. Please handwash and rinse it in lukewarm water, then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Please do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry.
Shipping-
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed. Where possible, I’m using express/priority shipping etc. (at no cost to customers) for the most reliable delivery and tracking.
Australians- I’m presently using Express shipping within Australia to do my best to get parcels delivered as fast as possible and provide tracking.
