Black and White Crochet Stocking Cap- extra long tail

Description

This extra-long-tailed monochrome stocking cap features subtle shades of grey and velvety black, accented with snowy white. Fuzzy brushed wool contrasts with smooth, shiny white synthetic, soft grey mohair and lots and lots of fluffy feathers and eyelash yarns. Tiny silver sequins and glitzy yarns add touches of sparkle.

Forget about having to carry- and keep tabs on- a scarf. The Black and White hat’s fancy, spheroided tail acts as an attached scarf- impossible to lose while the hat is on your head, perfect to wrap around the wearer’s neck, adding warmth and style. The tail measures approx. 136cm/54”/4’6”, including the luxuriantly thick, fluffy tassel of 18cm/7” with its 10cm/4” hand twisted cord.

Overall, the stocking cap boasts a huge variety of crochet stitches and techniques, from complex entarsia/tapestry crochet stripes and zigzags, to 3D crochet cables, bobbles, puff, bead, popcorn and berry stitches.

Tapestry crochet techniques are used throughout, especially in the crown section, with its white-on-black zigzag motif which is ‘studded’ with grey bobbles. The entire head section has a broad, lower band of fluffy, silvery grey eyelash yarn and is edged with a row of fancy, variegated, black/white/grey ‘medley’ yarn, which has a strand of yarn with little puffballs all along its length plied with a strand of eyelash yarn to give a substantial but soft and fluffy edge.

The Black and White stocking cap should fit and enliven most craniums from small, up to large- 59cm/23”. It is great for those less than fabulous hair days, with a little extra room allowed in the crown so the wearer can tuck their hair up inside.

This hat is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art headgear, designed and robustly crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. It should give its owner years of warm wear, provided it is washed carefully.

It is made from an eclectic mix of yarns, mostly natural wool and mohair with some synthetic fibres. This hat is soft and snuggly to wear.

Please handwash and rinse the Black and White stocking cap in lukewarm water, (preferably with woolwash) then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not machine wash, bleach or tumble dry.

Shipping- I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the local post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.

Most parcels will ship with tracking, where destinations allow for tracking (Aus, USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand and many others all do).
