Valkyrie Blues, Viking style crochet, vegan, horned ear flap hat

Description

Bright blues from sky through to primary form the background. Tapestry crochet in black simulates a norse helmet’s cross-banding, with 3D bobble stitches in deep orange and gradations of blue imitating large rivets. A fuzzy band of sky blue feathers yarn creates a heart shape around the wearer’s face. The whole hat is edged in matching fluffy feathers and eyelash yarn crocheted together.

A deep ‘widow’s peak’, suggesting the nasal of a helmet, draws attention to the wearer’s eyes while excluding drafts.

Hand-twisted ear flap ties of approx. 30cm/12” boast luxuriantly thick, fluffy tassels of 20cm/8”. The softly pointy horns are each 15cm/6” in length. They are also set a little to the back, like ‘raked’ aircraft wings, which also helps the hat to balance nicely.

Valkyrie Blues should fit most noggins, up to and including extra large. That is, it should fit craniums from about 54cm/21” to around 61cm/23.5”. (I’ve been a little generous in the upper estimate of size.)

It is presently on exhibition at Dungog Arts Society, Dowling Street Dungog, so I will need to pick it up from there before posting it to the purchaser. Since I’ll also be posting it from Dungog, and the Arts Society is on my way to the post office, that shouldn’t add much, if any delay to the shipping time.

This hat is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art headgear, designed and crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. It is robustly constructed of quality materials, so should give the owner years of enjoyable wear.

Valkyrie Blues is completely made from synthetic fibre yarns suitable for vegans. The horns are padded with washable, synthetic filling, as used in pillows.

Please wash and rinse it gently (woolwash is recommended), then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry.

Shipping- I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.

Tracking- Where possible, buyers will have a tracking number to keep tabs on their parcel’s progress via the Australia Post website. Most destinations, including Australia, the US and UK, Canada and New Zealand allow for tracking.
