Goth Kitty- cute dark crochet cat theme ear flap hat with ears

Description

Perky little ears make this darkly sparkly crochet kitty-cat shaped ear flap hat extra-cute! The kitty ears at the hat’s corners are very carefully shaped to make them stand up and out, while the top of the head section is curved to mimic the shape of a cat’s cranium.

The Goth Kitty is made in subtle, horizontal stripes of mohair/synthetic mix yarns crocheted together. One row has two strands of black, the next row has a strand of black and a strand of warm, dark grey, and the third row has one strand of black and a strand of cool, dark grey. These stripes are repeated throughout the hat, giving a subtle, dark variation reminiscent of the coat of a striped moggy.

The high forehead and crown between the ears has fine, vertical and diagonal stripes, worked in contrasting, muted, golden beige mohair mix, using tapestry crochet techniques. These stripes are similar to the stripes on a cat’s forehead, which join up closer to the nose.

The same colour yarn is used to accent the ‘insides’ of the ears, in sewn-on patches. All these lovely mohair mix yarns are very, very soft and snuggly. The hat is quite light, but should be warm, too.

Accents in the form of three dimensional bobble stitches in charcoal, blue and purple shot with silver sequins decorate the lower part of the crown.

These colours appear again in the fuzzy, feathery, sparkly band of variegated black/blue/purple/beige/silver designer yarn around the lowest part of the hat. It is completely edged in a single row of slightly sparkly, variegated blue and grey yarn crocheted together with black eyelash yarn to give a soft, durable outer edge.

A deep widow’s peak at the forehead adds interest, excludes drafts, and gives the hat a bit more “kitty-ness”.

The Goth Kitty should fit most, it is best suited to snuggle around and enliven a medium sized noggin of up to 59cm/23.25”. The handtwisted ear flap ties are approx 41cm/16” in length and the fluffy mohair mix tassels which dance from them are 18cm/7” long.

Like all my work, the Goth Kitty was crocheted by myself and is my own, original design. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. Being made of lovely, durable yarns, it should give its owner years of warm wear, providing it is cared for appropriately.

It is made from mainly natural/synthetic mix yarns at the top with synthetics forming the furry band and edging. The mohair in this hat is very wearable, and not in the least scratchy.

Please handwash and rinse the Goth Kitty in lukewarm water, then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry.

Shipping- I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the local post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.
