Description
This bright, stripy crochet bikini is as colourful as licorice allsorts- baby pink, bright pink, mauve, purple, tangerine and orange are accented with lovely licorice black. While the colour scheme is exotic, this two piece swimsuit is sized for a real person, with plenty of room for adjustment in the handtwisted ties. The entire bikini is edged in black, with tiny crochet picots every third stitch (technical term for ‘lacy-sticky-out bits’) inspired by the hexagonal-section, plain licorice pieces in a bag of allsorts.
The ties, with their teeny tassels, are generous in length, so the wearer may double-bow them for added security while frolicking in the waves.
And speaking of swimming… This is a swimsuit which can be confidently worn in the water. It should not fill with water and sag, because it is made of fine, 4ply, 100 percent cotton yarn.
The design for this bikini is my own- no patterns were harmed in its making. In particular, the design of a ‘sleeve’ or ‘hem’ within which the tie around the body can slide, and along which the cups can be slid, is my design, and is different to the usual crochet bikini with the ties simply pushed through the lower edge of the cups. This additional sleeve helps ensure that the cups cannot slide around, and stay in place better, as well as giving a little more support. That also means that the top is less likely to succumb to any “oops moments” in the surf.
The bikini should fit size Aus/UK 14-18C, US, Eu approximately- there’s a little leeway in that estimate, the cups are quite curvaceous and the ties are long. The pant coverage is just a little cheeky.
Please note: there is some ‘give’ in the crochet fabric, so when stretched (that is, tied in place) most measurements may be a little larger (eg. top of pant at front and back, width and length of cup). I did NOT stretch the fabric when measuring. If you have any questions about size, or would like me to remeasure with stretch, please feel free to contact me.

Width of pant at narrowest point of crotch- 6cm/2.5”
Length of neck ties- 84cm/33”
Length of tie around body (one long tie at base of cups)- 280cm/110”
Length of front pant ties- 42cm/16”
Length of back pant ties- 72cm/28.5”
Tassel length- 5cm/2”
The cotton yarn with which the bikini is made is ‘dressed’ when it is made, which means that until it gets wet, it might feel a little harsh. After that it will be beautifully soft. The bikini is washable and can be ironed, but please don’t bleach it.
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.
