Perky Pumpkin slouchy hand made crochet beanie

Here is my take on how to hide in a pumpkin patch… Wear a fabulous and fun disguise on your head. And this is the ideal camouflage cucurbit for the discerning garden-lurker; soft, snuggly-warm, subtly coloured and elegantly-styled.

Pale oranges, apricots, shell pinks tending towards ochre fade from the very lightest of tints to the deepest, from edge to stem. The pumpkin ‘body’ is accented with variegated hot pink, vivid orange and bright yellow bobbles, reminiscent of a textured squash.

All the pinkish-orange yarns of that body section are from my special collection of vintage fibres- (never knitted or crocheted, just carefully hoarded for many years until they found their destiny in this hat). They are either pure mohair or mohair mixes, which are soft and non-scratchy. I estimate that the pumpkin beanie is comprised of at least 90 percent natural fibres.

The green stem, leaves and tendrils are all crocheted of pure Australian wool. The entire hat is light and so soft, but also beautifully warm.

The lower edge has a series of broad scallops, evocative of a pumpkin’s shape, perhaps a little turban-esque, and flattering to most face-shapes, while the crown is full and slouchy- great to tuck the wearer’s hair up inside, yet another hider-bonus.

It is sized to cuddle and enliven ‘one size’ of cranium of up to approx 58cm/22.5”.

It is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art headgear, designed and robustly crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making.

Please handwash and rinse the pumpkin beanie in lukewarm water- woolwash is recommended- then roll it in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and lay it flat to dry. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Shipping
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends, because the post office is closed Saturday and Sunday. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.

Where possible, I’m using express/priority shipping etc. (at no cost to customers) for the most reliable delivery. Buyers will have a tracking number to keep tabs on their parcel’s progress via the Australia Post website.

Australians- I’m presently using Express shipping within Australia to do my best to get parcels delivered as fast as possible.
