Description

Anna is a native Australian dragon, a relative of our monitor lizards of the Varanus genus, specifically goannas. She is a fabulously rainbow striped, approximately two-metre-long, crochet dragon with poseable wings and legs. Her body and tail have a double-reversed rainbow colouration and cream undersides, while her head, legs and centre-back ridge are made from beautiful, variegated blue and burgundy, pure Australian wool ‘Bloom’ yarn, from Bendigo Woollen Mills.

As well as the two rainbows, one of which goes front to back, and the other back to front, Anna has a row of bobbles in rainbow order along each side. Her arrowhead-shaped tail tip has a group of bobbles, also in rainbow colours and order.

Her gorgeous, sparkling, golden eyes are handpainted, holographic safety eyes from DarkSide.

Anna is close to the size and shape of some of the goannas that live around here, but she has wings and a dorsal ridge, which distinguish her from her more common cousins.

Anna is padded with washable synthetic fill. In fact, she doesn’t mind a bath, so long as it is in lukewarm water and definitely not in the washing machine. She could be bathed in the bathtub, a bucket probably isn’t big enough.

Anna is presently on display with my Wild Windows of Whimsy exhibition at Gallery on Dowling, Dungog.
