Not only will the Anti Magpie beanie allow you to stroll confidently through nesting territories, it is also a fun piece of wearable Art for your head!
From the royal blue, teal, purple and green beanie sprout five eyeballs, with eyelids and pupils of assorted sizes, colours and shapes, with differing expressions. One eyeball is on watch at the very top and centre of the beanie, while the other four are equidistant around the sides, each is set in between one of the four, multi-toned zigzags crocheted into the hat.
It can be worn in a variety of ways, with any of the four side-eyes to the centre front, back and over each ear, or turned so that there is an eyeball at each side of the forehead and either side of the back of the head- please see the photos for clarification.
The Anti Magpie beanie is ‘one size’, best suited to snuggle around and protect a cranium of 55cm/21.5” to 60cm/23.5” approx.
This hat is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art, designed and robustly crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making.
The Anti Magpie beanie is made from an eclectic collection of natural and synthetic fibres- predominantly soft, non-scratchy synthetic and natural-synthetic-mix yarns. The eyeballs are padded with synthetic polyfill. Please handwash and rinse the beanie in lukewarm water- woolwash is recommended- then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
Shipping-
I use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the local post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.
Parcels sent to destinations which allow for tracking will have a tracking number. That includes Aus, US, UK and NZ.
Australians- I’m presently sending all parcels by express post to ensure they arrive safely and quickly.
* If you’re wondering about the reason behind the name of this hat, it has been proved that having ‘eyes’ on your headgear will discourage magpies from swooping. One common, low-tech solution is to draw eyes on an ice cream container with a felt tip pen. But you don’t have to wait for nesting season to wear this hat- it’s a great talking point, and should bring the wearer many smiles from passersby.
