This cute, crochet horned ear flap hat in soft pink and purple wool features a fluffy, heart shaped, face-frame, and aerodynamic, striped horns set at rakish angles.
Tapestry crochet techniques are used to simulate a helmet’s cross-banding, with slightly sparkly, sequinned bobbles imitating large rivets. Surrounding the face, and making the eponymous heart shape around the wearer’s face is a fuzzy band of variegated pink-and-purple eyelash yarn, edged in matching fluffy ‘medley’ yarn.
A deep ‘widow’s peak’, suggesting the ‘nasal’ of a helmet, draws attention to the wearer’s eyes while excluding drafts.
Hand-twisted ear flap ties of approx. 25cm/10” boast luxuriantly thick, fluffy tassels of 15cm/6”. The horns are each 15cm/6” in length, conical rather than curving, and softly pointy. They are also set a little to the back, like ‘raked’ aircraft wings (or my greyhound dogs’ ears when they run).
Heart Raker is best suited to cuddle and adorn a cranium of up to 56cm/23”.
This hat is a unique, individual piece of wearable Art headgear, designed and crocheted by myself. No patterns were harmed, or even used in its making. It is robustly constructed of high quality materials, so should give the owner years of enjoyable wear.
Heart Raker is made from mainly three beautiful, soft, non-scratchy, pure Australian wools- one dusky pink, one pink and cream variegated and one dusky mauve. The bobbles are made of mohair-synthetic mix plied with teeny tiny sequins, and the fluffy medley, feathers and eyelash yarns in the edging, bands and tassels are of course synthetics. The horns are padded with washable, synthetic filling.
Please wash and rinse it gently in lukewarm water (woolwash is recommended), then roll in a towel to gently squeeze out excess moisture, and dry flat. Do not bleach, machine wash or tumble dry.
Shipping-
We use Australia Post and usually send out parcels within 24 hours, except on weekends and public holidays, when the post office is closed. Shipping to the US/UK should take about a week to ten days, but unfortunately shipping delays can happen sometimes. If that’s the case, let me know and I can follow up the parcel’s progress from this end and keep buyers informed.
Tracking-
Where possible, buyers will have a tracking number to keep tabs on their parcel’s progress via the Australia Post website. Most destinations, including Australia, the US and UK, Canada and New Zealand allow for tracking.
